Maheshwari Sarees

Maheshwari sarees come from the looms of Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh, where Rani Ahilyabai Holkar first commissioned them over two centuries ago. The signature: a light silk-cotton body with distinctive borders — often reversible — and small woven checks and stripes.

They are famously easy to wear: lighter than pure silk, dressier than plain cotton, right for both a working day and an evening function.
